Membership Description
Members of the Four Pillar Society provide volunteer services to Georgia Gwinnett College and to the GGC Foundation. This includes, but is not limited to representing Georgia Gwinnett College’s student body and the GGC Foundation at various GGC and community events and greeting and mingling with guests while providing knowledgeable insights about GGC and student life. 

Members will also be expected to participate in and encourage GGC Foundation philanthropic efforts. Four Pillar Society members will strive to build a sustainable financial future at GGC by fostering a culture of long-term giving by inspiring students to give financial gifts to the GGC Foundation.

Requirements for Membership

  • Must be classified as a full-time sophomore or higher by the fall 2021 semester
  • Must have completed at least 12 credit hours at Georgia Gwinnett College
  • Must be able to commit to serving a 1-year term 
  • Must be in good disciplinary standing as is defined in the GGC Student Code of Conduct
  • Must be in good academic standing
  • Must have a flexible schedule – available for some night and/or weekend events
  • Exhibit strong public speaking and interpersonal skills – speak clearly and precisely with groups and individuals
  • Exhibit an understanding of, or a willingness to learn about all aspects of Georgia Gwinnett College
  • Participate in events willingly and professionally
  • Display maturity with alumni, donors, staff, etc.
  • Show enthusiasm, loyalty, and dedication to Georgia Gwinnett College
  • Manage time effectively – respond to communications in a timely manner
  • Maintain the Four Pillar Society uniform and appropriate appearance at all events
  • Exhibit strong customer-service skills: have a positive, helpful, “can-do” attitude
  • Attend mandatory training sessions and scheduled meetings

Member Incentives
Members of the Four Pillar Society will gain valuable networking, leadership and work experience. Members are a prestigious group on our campus who receive invitations to unique events and personal and professional development opportunities.

Application Process

  • Complete the full application form below (click on "start") and provide supporting documentation no later than October 1, 2021, at 8:00 p.m.
  • Only complete applications will be accepted. Supporting documents must be received by the application deadline. No supporting documents will be accepted after the application deadline See below for the required supporting documents.
  • Students selected for interviews will be contacted by October 6, 2021, and interviews will be scheduled for the week of October 11-15, 2021. 
  • Selected members will be notified on October 25, 2021.

Required Supporting Documents for your Application
One (1) letter of recommendation from a current GGC faculty, staff, administration, or organization advisor is required. Letters of recommendation must be emailed to hlisle@ggc.edu and received no later than 8:00 p.m. on October 1, 2021. Applications without a letter of recommendation will not be considered.

Key Dates and Deadlines Summary

  • October 1, 2021 - Applications and required documentation due by 8:00 p.m.
  • October 6, 2021 - Notifications to applicants if selected for interviews
  • October 11-14, 2021 - Interviews will be a combination of in-person and videoconferencing
  • October 25, 2021 - Selected members are announced / notified*


Interview Process

  • Applicants selected for a Four Pillar Society interview will be notified via email by October 6, 2021
  • Interviews will take place between October 11 and 25, using a combination of in person / videoconferencing 
  • Interviews will last 30 minutes and will be scheduled around the applicant's class schedule
  • Interviews will consist of the following:
    General question and answer session with a panel of GGC staff
    3-5 minute presentation by the interviewee about why you chose GGC, why you want to be involved with the Four Pillar Society, and where you see yourself and GGC in 10 years. More information about these presentations will be included in the initial notification email

*Selections will be based upon the applicant’s poise, demeanor, leadership experience/potential, and ability to represent the GGC Foundation with excellence to the many diverse constituents of Georgia Gwinnett College. Participation will not be restricted by reason of age, color, disability, gender, race, religion, national origin, political affiliation, sexual orientation, or military status.
